Arunachaleswar Temple is located in Arunachala hills in Thiruvannamalai district  in the state of Tamilnadu.


Arunachaleswar is an incarnation of lord Shiva. Lord Shiva manifested  himself as swayambhu.


Goddess Parvathi is known as Unnamalai Amman.


Of the five shaktis on which earth stands  - Space , Water , Air, Earth an Fire the Agni. The Thiruvanamalai belongs to Agni.


This is a largest Siva Temple in World.  


The Temple has seven prakaras and nine gopurams. The tallest gopuram built by king krishnadevaraya in the fifteenth century.


These magnificent impressive towers are among the finest in the Tamilnadu and can be compared with those of Chidambaram, Srirangam, Jambukeswaram, Madurai and Rameswaram.


The Temple has two theerthams named as Brahma theertham and Siva Ganga theertham.


This Temple was built in 9th century.


The major festival is celebrated during November and December called as Karthigai Deepam.


Every full Moon day Girivalam is observed.

Traditional Dress is allowed for Darshan.
