Sri Oppiliappan Temple Timings – Tirunageswaram
Sri Oppiliappan Swamy temple is located near
Tirunageswaram in outskirts of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district in the state of
Tamilnadu.
Oppiliappan Swamy is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He
is in a standing posture with 8 feet height.
Goddess Bhumi devi is the consort of Lord Oppiliappan.
It is counted as 60th among 108 Divya desam
Temples.
The temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha the
early medival of Alwar saints from 6th – 9th Centuries.
As Perumal accepted food without salt he is praised as
Uppili appan and also known as Oppiliappan.
This temple was built in Dravidian style of
architecture. This temple has 5 tier rajagopuram with 50 feet height.
The Koneru named as Ahorathra Pushkarini, Indra
theertham, Brahma Theertham, Surya theertham, Sarnga Theertham.
This temple was built during 8th Century.
Oppiliappan is believed to have appeared for sage
Markandeya.

Brahmotsavam is celebrated during months of Purattasi (sep-oct),
Vasantotsavam during Vaikasi month(may-june) for 6 days, Kalyana utsavams for
12 days during Aippasi (oct-nov) Adhyayana Utsavams for 10 days during
Margazhi(dec-jan), Float festival for 5 days during Thai (jan-feb).
