Varaha Jayanti

 

  • Varaha Jayanti is the birth celebration of the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
  • It is celebrated on Tritiya tithi Shukla paksha of Bhadrapada month
  • He incarnated himself as a boar to save the world and held Earth on the two tusks from under the ocean.
  • It is believed that worshipping Lord Varaha brings all kinds of happiness to the devotee including health and wealth.
  • Mainly Celebrated in South India
  • Special pujas take place in Lord Vishnu Temples.
  • An old temple of Varaha Swamy exists in Mathura where celebrations take place
  • There is another temple in Tirumala where special puja takes place

  • Devotees wake up early and freshen up to worship God.
  • They perform puja and visit Lord Vishnu Temples
  • One should read Stories relating to Lord Vishnu
  • Most of the devotees observe fast on this day
  • If possible donate food, and clothes to the needy.
