Bhanu Saptami

 

Bhanu Saptami also known as Surya Saptami or Vivaswat Saptami is dedicated to Lord Surya. This Saptami will fall on Sunday. On this day, Surya made his first appearance on the chariot of seven horses.

Lord Surya is worshiped on Shukla Paksha Saptami (the seventh day during the waxing phase of the moon in a traditional lunar calendar).


Bhanu Saptami is observed in Magh Month (January – February), Falguna Month (February - March), Jyeshta Month (June – July), Kartik Month (November - December), and also in Margashirsh Month (December - January) by different Hindu communities. The main Bhanu Saptami is held in Magh month and is known as Magh Saptami or Ratha Saptami.

On this day the Sun god is being worshipped by performing the Mahabhishek after the arrival of sun rays on the Surya Yantra. On the day of Bhanu Saptami, people recite Aditya hrudayam and other Surya stotras which make Surya Dev happy, and in return, they make their devotees healthy forever. Bhanu Saptami is considered very auspicious among all of the Saptami and is widely celebrated in South India and some parts of Western India.

Sri Murugan Temple is located at Thiruparankundram in Madurai district of Tamilnadu State. It is regarded as one of the Six abodes of Lord Murugan. Vaikuntha Ekadasi is one of the important and auspicious days for Hindus. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It occurs in the Hindu calendar, in the month of Margashirsha (Between December and January).
