Aazhimala Shiva Temple

 

The Aazhimala Shiva Temple is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea near Vizhinijam in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala.

The presiding deity is Lord Shiva

Lord Ganesh and Goddess Parvati has also shrines

There is also a Small shrine for Yogeshwara

The temple is known for 58 feet tall sculpture, which is the tallest in Kerala

The sculpture depicts a four-armed Shiva in a seated posture. The back is right-hand holds a damaru, the front right hand rests on the right thigh, the back left hand holds a trishula and the front left hand is in a raised position within the jaṭā (dreadlocks), which holds Ganga.

This temple was built in the Tamilnadu Style of architecture.

Tuesdays are usually the busiest days

Shivaratri is the festival celebrated here

The annual festival is celebrated during the Malayalam month of Makaram(Jan-feb)

Sri Raghavendra Swami Aradhana 2024 Dates

Sri Raghavendra Swami was born as the second son of Gopikamba and Thimanna Bhatta in the year 1595. The great saint who was hailed as the incarnation of Prahalada, the great bhakta of Lord Maha Vishnu, was born in the Mrighashirsha Nakshatra at Buvanagiri which is in the present day Tamilnadu. Born as Venkatanatha and fondly called Venkata Ramana, Sri Raghavendra Swami was the epitome of piety and bhakti. After serving the world and the lord for a lifetime, Sri Raghavendra Swami attained Jeeva Samadhi in the year 1671. It happened on the Dwitiya of Krishna Paksha of the Shravana month. Tirumala: March 2025 Quota Details

  The March 2025 quota of Arjita Seva tickets will be released on December 18 at 10am by TTD online which includes Arjita Sevas viz. Suprabhatam, Tomala, Archana, Astadalam. The devotees shall register for these sevas from December 18-20 and those who got the tickets shall have to pay from December 20 onwards and before the 12noon of December 22. Meanwhile, the Arjita Sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam, Sahasra Deepalankara Seva tickets will be released at 10am on December 21 while the virtual sevas and gheir darshan slots on the same day at 3pm. TTD will release the  the Anga Pradakshinam tokens at 10am, SRIVANI tickets at 11am, Physically challenged and senior citizens at 3pm on December 23. Dhanurmas or Dhanur Masa is also known by the names Chapa Mas, Kodanda Mas, Karmuka Mas, etc. Dhanurmasa is also called Shoonya Masa because it is considered inauspicious to do any good things other than Godly and holy functions.   Pushya Masam is the tenth month as per the lunar calendar. In this month farmers get their crop hence it is called Soubhagya Laksmi Masam. The sun would transit in the northern direction and from then onward the Uttarayana Punyakalam starts. Uttarayana starts with the most famous festival Sankranti.
