The
Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir, is dedicated to Lord Krishna
who is referred to as “Dwarkadhish” which means “King of Dwarka”. It is
situated in Dwarka, Gujarat.
This is one of the
Chardham yatra, Pancha dwaraka and Nava Dwaraka Temples.
It lies on the banks of
river Gomti, in Saurashtra. It is historically considered as the capital of
Lord Krishna.
The present temple was
constructed in 15th – 16th
Century.This temple has two entrances Moksha dwara and Swarga dwara on North.
It is a seven storey
temple, supported on 72 pillars.
The temple flag spans 84 feet
high and is hosted on the top ofa pillar 20 feet high. It bears the emblem of
sun and moon and can ne seen in various combinations of pink,red saffron,
yellow, white, blue and green colurs.
Colours of the flag are
chosen as per the different days of week and each stands for a specific
spiritual quality.
