Sri Kasi Visweswara Swamy Temple - Bugga Agraharam
Here lord is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.Sri Annapurna devi and Sri Kamakshi devi are the consorts of Kasi Visweswara Swamy.
This temple has a 3 tiered Rajagopuram.
There are five waterfalls
known as the Pancha Ganga that run into the Kushastali River. This location is
called Dakshina Kasi.
It was once a temple dedicated to Kalabhairava. At one point, Gowtama Maharshi
wanted to turn this area into Dakshina Kashi and transform the Ganges into the
Kushasthali River. He performed a Mahayagna, or penance, and was blessed by
Shiva and Ganga to accomplish his goal.
Shiva gave Gowthama Maharshi a Shivalinga. The same was built in this temple by
him.
He brought the Ganges
down in 5 streams and made her flow in the Kushasthali river. Hence, this place
is called Dakshina Kasi and the deity as Kasi Visveswara.
There is a big pool
behind the Shivalinga. Water used to get accumulated in it always.
On the premises of this
temple are temples dedicated to Vinayaka, Kalabhairava, Navagraha, and
Nagakanya.
People believe that the
ashes flown in Ganga provides moksha to the departed soul. In the same manner
people believe that the ashes flown in this stream will also provide moksha.
Giri Pradakshina, Maha
Shivaratri, Pavitrostavam, Navratri, Karthika Masam, Dhanurmasam and Vaikunta Ekadasi
are the festivals celebrated here.
