Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple - Jamalapuram


 

Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is located in Jamalapuram in Khammam district of Telangana State.


Sri Venkateswara Swamy is self-manifested here. Padmavathi Ammavaru and Alivelu Mangamma are the consorts of Venkateswara Swamy.


This temple has a 5 tier Rajagopuram. This temple was built 850 years ago.


According to a legend, Jabali Maharshi was the guru of Dasradhara Maharaja's palace. He has the most love for lord Srirama. When Srirama moved to the jungle with his wife and brother for Aranyavasam, Jabali Maharshi tried to bring them back with love for Rama. With a firm determination to rule under his father's command, Srirama rejected maharishi's proposal. Later Jabali Maharishi returned to Ayodhya and told his disciples that he had to come to this temple and performed penance.
