Kumara Kottam Subramanya Temple is located in Sowcarpet in George Town area of Chennai, in the state of Tamilnadu.


Murugan is uniquely depicted as Brahma – Shasta, holding a kamandalu and beads of Rudraksha. He has two arms and is found in the standing Posture.


This is one of the India’s seven moksha-puris or sacred cities where salvation may be obtained.


It is said to form a cluster with Ekambareswarar temple and the Kamakshi Amman temple but each temple has its own liturgical identity.


 

This temple was built 1000 years ago.


Best time to visit - September to March.


Traditional dress is allowed for darshan.
