Sri Virupaksheeswarar Swamy temple is located at Mylapore, Chennai city in the state of Tamilnadu.


Virupaksheeswarar is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.


This is one of the seven Sapthasthana temples for Shiva in Mylapore worshiped by the Sapta rishis.


This temple has 5 tier Rajagopuram.


This temple was built during 17th  century.


The temple is also endowed with a beautiful tank, the belief is that a dip on this will cure the people of their diseases.

Sri Raghavendra Swami Aradhana 2024 Dates

Sri Raghavendra Swami was born as the second son of Gopikamba and Thimanna Bhatta in the year 1595. The great saint who was hailed as the incarnation of Prahalada, the great bhakta of Lord Maha Vishnu, was born in the Mrighashirsha Nakshatra at Buvanagiri which is in the present day Tamilnadu. Born as Venkatanatha and fondly called Venkata Ramana, Sri Raghavendra Swami was the epitome of piety and bhakti.
