This Temple is also known as Perumalla Swamy temple. Every day he used to go to tirumala to participate in the service of the Lord. After attaining the old age Thondaman expressed his inability to the Lord to travel to Tirumala to have his Darshan. The Lord after realizing the intention of Thondaman promised that he would come to his house. For accepting the Pooja Kainkaryams.
Accordingly, The Lord along with Sridevi and Bhu Devi used to come to the House of Thondaman to accept the sevas. The Lord was called ‘VeetilIrndurai Perumal’ because of the appearance of the house. Since Thondaman constructed Ananda Nilayam at Tirumala, here at Tondamanadu also the construction of Temple gopuram was constructed in a similar structure and the Lord here can be seen in Abhaya Hastha posture, indicating that the Lord will come to the rescue of the devotees. The temple faces towards the East direction with Dravidian Architectural Style and the Raja Gopuram consists of Three Tiers.
The four mandapas which make comprise the main temple are the Mahamandapa, Mukhamandapa, Antaraalayam, and Garbhagruha. The idols of two dwarapalakas, Jaya and Vijaya, can be found at Antaraalayam's entrance. Thondaman built a sizable tank close to the shrine that collects water from the Akasaganga of Tirumala.
