Sri Mullaivananathar Temple Timings – Thirumullaivasal

Sri Mullaivananathar Swamy temple is located at Thirumullaivasal in  Mayiladuthurai district in the state of Tamilnadu.


Mullaivananathar is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He is Swayambhu with a height of 3.5 feet tall.


Goddess Ani Konda Kothai Ammai is the consort of Mullaivananathar.


It is one of the shrines of 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified in early medieval Teveram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Tirugnana Sambandar.


This is the 61st Devara Paadal Petra Sthalam and 7th Sthalam on the north side of river Cauvery.


This temple was built in chola style of architecture.


There is a Koneru named as Brahma theertham and Chandra Theertham.


This temple was built in 13th century.


Masi Magam Theerthvari festival in Feb-March is grandly celebrated in this temple.


Devotees who chant the Panchakshara five letter Mantra ‘Na Ma Shi Va Ya’ in this temple on Solar and Lunar eclipse days and on Amavasya days would not be subjected to next birth, it is the belief of devotees.

Sri Raghavendra Swami was born as the second son of Gopikamba and Thimanna Bhatta in the year 1595. The great saint who was hailed as the incarnation of Prahalada, the great bhakta of Lord Maha Vishnu, was born in the Mrighashirsha Nakshatra at Buvanagiri which is in the present day Tamilnadu. Born as Venkatanatha and fondly called Venkata Ramana, Sri Raghavendra Swami was the epitome of piety and bhakti.
