Sri Mariamman Temple Timings – Ooty

 

Sri Mariamman Temple is located at Ooty in Nilgiris district in the state of Tamilnadu.

Goddess Mariamman is an incarnation of Goddess Shakti.

This temple has 5 tier Rajagopuram

There are two deities in the sanctum, they are Maha Mariamman and Maha Kaliamman.

Here Navagrahas graces the temple with their consorts.

Mother Durga represents three powers called Itcha Shakti, Gnana Shakti, and Kriya Shakti. They're represented in the form of Mari, Kali, and Katteri and this is rare in a single temple.

Here Pushkarini is called Amritha Pushkarini.

It is an ancient temple the exact date and construction remain unknown.

A thread called Mudikayiru prepared with Mantras in the Kateri Amman shrine is believed to protect the devotee from evil looks, illness, magic spells, witchcraft effects, etc. This is mostly used to protect children. Women wear it for child boon. The thread is also used to protect cattle. 

The temple experiences rush on full moon days, Fridays in aadi month (July -august), and during Navratri days.
