Athachamayam Festival 2022
It is celebrated in the
Malayalam month of Chingam (Aug/Sep).
It marks the beginning of
the ten-day Onam festivities in Kerala.
It is a Commemoration of
the prosperous period of King Mahabali’s rule in Kerala.
It is celebrated as a Harvest
festival.
Athachamayam is celebrated
on Atham day in the historical town of Tripunithura, near Kochi.
Caparisoned elephants,
various varieties of folk arts, floats, and music form the part of the Procession.
