Sri Vasishteswarar Temple – Thittai

 

Sri Vasishteswarar Temple is located at Thittai Village near Thanjavur city of Tamilnadu State.

Lord Vasishteswarar is an incarnation of Lord Shiva, and he is Swayambhu here. Goddess Ulaga Nayaki Amman is the consort of Vasishteswarar.

This temple is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Stahalams.

A unique feature of this temple is a drop of water falls on the lingam exactly every twenty-four minutes from the roof.

Sun God dedicates his puja to the lord in the month of Tamil month Avani. During the Uthirayana half year in the month of Panguni, the rising sun worships Lord Shiva.

This temple was built in the Dravidian style of architecture.

Two Stones Suryagaanthakkal and Chandragaanthakkal which are placed at strategic points above the Vimana are the reasons for the droplets of water which falls on the deity.

Maharshi Vasishta worshipped Jupiter as Raja Guru in this temple, hence the place has guru importance.

This temple was built during the 7th century.

Maha Shivaratri and Tirukarthikai are the festivals celebrated here.

Sri Raghavendra Swami Aradhana 2024 Dates

Sri Raghavendra Swami was born as the second son of Gopikamba and Thimanna Bhatta in the year 1595. The great saint who was hailed as the incarnation of Prahalada, the great bhakta of Lord Maha Vishnu, was born in the Mrighashirsha Nakshatra at Buvanagiri which is in the present day Tamilnadu. Born as Venkatanatha and fondly called Venkata Ramana, Sri Raghavendra Swami was the epitome of piety and bhakti. After serving the world and the lord for a lifetime, Sri Raghavendra Swami attained Jeeva Samadhi in the year 1671. It happened on the Dwitiya of Krishna Paksha of the Shravana month. Dhanurmas or Dhanur Masa is also known by the names Chapa Mas, Kodanda Mas, Karmuka Mas, etc. Dhanurmasa is also called Shoonya Masa because it is considered inauspicious to do any good things other than Godly and holy functions. Tirumala: March 2025 Quota Details

  The March 2025 quota of Arjita Seva tickets will be released on December 18 at 10am by TTD online which includes Arjita Sevas viz. Suprabhatam, Tomala, Archana, Astadalam. The devotees shall register for these sevas from December 18-20 and those who got the tickets shall have to pay from December 20 onwards and before the 12noon of December 22. Meanwhile, the Arjita Sevas like Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjita Brahmotsavam, Sahasra Deepalankara Seva tickets will be released at 10am on December 21 while the virtual sevas and gheir darshan slots on the same day at 3pm. TTD will release the  the Anga Pradakshinam tokens at 10am, SRIVANI tickets at 11am, Physically challenged and senior citizens at 3pm on December 23. The Rs.300 Special Entry Darshan will be released at 10am on December 24, accommodation for Tirumala and Tirupati at 3pm on the same day.
