Sri Kothandarama Swamy Temple – Ayothiyapattinam
Sri Kothandarama Swamy Temple is located in
Ayothiapattinam town in the Salem district of Tamilnadu State.
Here Lord Rama is in a sitting posture with his left leg placed on his right thigh
This temple has 5 tier Rajagopuram which is 150 feet high.
The temple mandap has four musical pillars similar to the one in the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai.
The Dasavatharam on one of the pillars is Unique. The ceiling looks vibrant with beautiful paintings of Gajendra Moksham and Krishna Leela.
The Sthala Purana says that on his way back from Lanka, Lord Rama stayed a day at the request of Sage Bharadwaja.
This temple was built in the 17th century
