Sri Kushmanda Devi Mandir – Ghatampur
Sri Kushmanda Devi Mandir is located at Ghatampur town in
Kanpur Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh State.
Kushmanda Devi is an incarnation of Goddess Durga, She is
Swayambhu here.
This temple is constructed in the North Indian Style of
architecture.
There are two ponds near the Temple
According to historians, there
was once a dense forest here. A shepherd named Kudha used to graze cows there.
The cow used to stand near the bush and spill its milk. The shepherd supervised
it and the mother appeared to him in a dream in the night. Mother Kushmanda
appeared after digging under the bush, Established at the same place. Mother
Kushmanda is also named Kudaha Devi after the shepherd Kudha and Locals call them by
this name.
This temple was built during the 10th century.
