ISKCON Temple - Vishakapatnam

 

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Temple located in Visakhapatnam is the abode of Sri Sri Radha Krishna.


The main deities of the mandir are Sri Sri Radha Krishna and Sri Sri Jagannatha Baladeva Subhadra. The other idol of the temple is Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Deva. 


Important Festivals celebrated are Panihati Chida-dahi Utsava, Jagannatha Ratha Yatra, Vyasa Puja, Deepotsava, Govardhana Puja, Sri Vaikunta Ekadasi, Gita Jayanti, Nityananda Trayodasi, Sri Gaura Purnima, Sri Rama Navami, Sri Narasimha Chaturdasi, Jhulan Utsava, Sri Balarama Purnima, Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Sri Radhashtami.

Sri Murugan Temple - Thiruparankundram

Sri Murugan Temple is located at Thiruparankundram in Madurai district of Tamilnadu State. It is regarded as one of the Six abodes of Lord Murugan. Goddess Valli and Devasena are the consorts of Lord Murugan An interesting feature of this temple is that of the deities of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu facing each other in the main shrine. Magh Mela is an auspicious annual Hindu Ritual held in the month of Magh. It is also called mini Kumbh Mela. It is celebrated in the month of Magh as per the Hindu calendar, which falls during January or February. The Magh Mela is, however, not confined only to the month of Magh, and the important bathing dates are spread over 45 days. It is believed that taking a holy dip at the Sangam on the auspicious days during the period will wash away the sins and will lead to Moksha. The venue for this festival is Sangam in Allahabad, which is the confluence of the Yamuna, Saraswati, and Ganga rivers. During the mela, several cultural events are held.
