Thiruvanchikulam Shiva Temple – Kodungallur

 

Thiruvanchikulam Shiva Temple is located in Kodungallur in Thrissur district of Kerala.

Here Lord Shiva is worshipped as Mahadeva and his Parvati devi as Umadevi.

This temple was built in the Kerala Style of architecture.

It is one of the Paadal Petra Sthalam(only temple in Kerala)

The Archaeological Survey of India has designated the temple as a protected monument due to its excellent mural paintings.

The premises of the shrine include images of Sundara Murthi Nayanar and Cheraman Perumal Nayanar.

It is one of the oldest Shiva temples in South India, where Shiva is said to live along with his whole family.

The temple is associated with Chidambaram temple in Tamil Nadu.

The most significant festivals of the temple include Brahmotsavam, which takes place in May or June during the Malayalam month of Edavam.
