Swamimalai is fourth among the arupadai veedu or sacred shrines dedicated to Lord Murugan. The presiding deity here expounded the meaning of the Pranava mantra OM to his own Father Lord Shiva Himself.

Sri Murugan Temple is located at Thiruparankundram in Madurai district of Tamilnadu State. It is regarded as one of the Six abodes of Lord Murugan.   Sri Anchumoorthi Temple is located on the banks of Bharathappuzha at Thirumittacode of Palakkad district in Kerala State. It is one of the 108 divyadesam of Lord Vishnu and is also regarded as the 108 Shivalayam of Lord Shiva. Here Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Uyyavandha Perumal and his consort is Vithuvakootuvalli.
