Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple - Korukonda

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is located in Korukonda Mandal in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh State.

Lord Sri Narasimha Swamy is the main deity of this temple, he is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Here the deity is Swayambhoo which measures 9 inches in height.

Lakshmi Devi is the consort of Lord Vishnu.

There are two temples in the same place. One of the temple idols is Swayambhu and another temple idol is installed

The Swayambhu is situated about 120 meters in height from the hill and has 615 steps to reach the hill.

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple walls were carved with images from the epic Ramayana. From the inscriptions, it is known that the temple exists since 1302 AD. Temple walls were carved with images from the epic Ramayana. Poojas at this temple was performed as stated in Agama Sastra.

The name of the shrine is derived from the words, 'koru' which means desire, and the word 'Konda' which refers to a mountain, in the Telugu language. Therefore, it can be referred to as a wishing mountain or a shrine where God listens to the pleas of his followers immediately and grants their wishes. The most important idol here is that of Lord Narasimha Swamy. In this shrine, He is known by the term, "Satvika Narasimha'', as he is always accompanied by his wife, Goddess Lakshmi. Two shrines are dedicated to Lord Narasimha Swamy which can be found in this village. The first one can be found atop a mountain which is found a few kilometers away from the main village, whereas the other shrine can be found where a mountain, shorter than the other few mountains is found. One shrine, out of the two is a Swayambhu, whereas the other has been erected or constructed manually.
