Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple - Avanigadda

The Raja Gopuram at the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple
is around 99 feet tall, has seven Kalasas, and houses a Dwaja Stabham. In
Andhra Pradesh, this Raja Gopura ranks second in height. This temple showcases
the carving construction skills used by Chola kings. This temple's Gopura was
built by the second Kulottunga Chola and features excellent sculpture with
seven Kalasas. According to histories that were written on stones (sasanas) at
this temple, the moola virat of this temple was installed by Lord Sri Rama in
the Tretayuga era.
Legend has it that the famous saint Sri Vasistha Maharshi Ashram, where Goddess Sita Devi acquired Dharma Sasthra from Vasistha Maharshi, is located in Avanigadda. So this place was named Avanijapuram. Later it is called Avanigadda.
Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy temple was built during the period of Chola kings in 1065 A.D., this temple was rebuilt in 1824 & 1977 year's Divisima storm was repaired in the 1990s after the collapse of the syringe. Cholas are the contributors to this temple.
