Sri Soumya Kesava Swamy Temple Timings - Nagamangala


Sri Soumya Kesava Swamy temple is located at Nagamangala town in Mandya district of Karnataka State. This temple is famous for Rahu-Khetu Parihara Pooja.

Here the presiding deity is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and 6 feet in height. He stands on a Garuda pedestal.


He holds sanku in upper right hand and chakra in upper left hand, padmam in lower right hand and gadha to his lower left hand. Normally sanku in left and chakra to right hand but in this temple they are changed.


Goddess Bhu devi and Sri devi are the consorts of Lord Vishnu.


This temple has a 7 tier gopuram.


This temple was built in 12th century.

Traditional dress is allowed for darshan.

Sri Raghavendra Swami was born as the second son of Gopikamba and Thimanna Bhatta in the year 1595. The great saint who was hailed as the incarnation of Prahalada, the great bhakta of Lord Maha Vishnu, was born in the Mrighashirsha Nakshatra at Buvanagiri which is in the present day Tamilnadu. Born as Venkatanatha and fondly called Venkata Ramana, Sri Raghavendra Swami was the epitome of piety and bhakti. After serving the world and the lord for a lifetime, Sri Raghavendra Swami attained Jeeva Samadhi in the year 1671. It happened on the Dwitiya of Krishna Paksha of the Shravana month.   Skanda Sasthi is dedicated to Lord Murugan or Subramanya Swamy. It is the sixth day of every lunar fortnight in the Hindu Calendar.
