Performing Shradha – The Appropriate Time

The performing of the rituals of Kamya Shradha can do on any of the following days.

At the commencement of Uttarayan or Dakshinayan

During both solar and lunar eclipses

If troubled by nightmares

Time when sun changes its position from one Zodiac to other.

Vishu yoga or Vyatipat yoga takes place.

Various nakshatras like Anuradha, Vishaka and Swathi are considered auspicious for performing Shradha, especially if the days happens to be Amavasya. Shradha performed on such day pacifies the ancestor’s soul for eight years.

The combination of Amavasya with either Pushya nakshatra or punarvasu nakshatra the ancestor’s soul pacify for twelve years.

The other days considered auspicious are the third day of the bright half of Vaishakh month.

The ninth day of bright half of Karthik month

The 13^th day of dark half of Bhadrapad month and Amavasya falling in the month of Magh.
