Arunachala Giri Pradakshina (Circumambulation)
- Arunam means sun and denotes the red Colour of fire and “Asalam” means Giri.
- Thus Arunchalam means the holy hill which is red in Colour
- Among the Panchabhoota Linga temples the Arunachala temple represents Agni Lingam.
- The Circumambulation is about 14 kms.
- It is auspicious to perform Girivalam or Giri Pradakshina during every full moon.
- It is believed that even the devatas will perform Pradakshina here.
