Sri Ammathiruvadi Temple Timings – Urakam
Sri Ammathiruvadi Temple or Valayadheeswari temple
is located in Urakam near Thrissur city in the state of Kerala.
This temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga.
It is regarded as one of the 108 Durga temples.
The location represents the scattered body parts of
Sati Devi, cut into pieces by Maha Vishnu with his chakra to pacify Lord Shiva
after the incident-filled Dakshayaga.
The Makeeram Porapadu is one of the festivals celebrated
in the temple. This festival is regarded as the beginning of Ammathiruvadi’s Journey
for the Arattupuzha Pooram celebrated at Arattupuzha temple. This temple plays
an important role in Arattupuzha Pooram.
Navratri, Thirkkarthika(birthday of the goddess),
Pooram, Illam Nira, and Vavarat are the important festivals celebrated here.
