Sri Garbharakshambigai
Temple is located in Thirukarukavoor near Papanasam in Thanjavur district in
the State of Tamilnadu.
Garbharakshabigai Amman
is an incarnation of Goddess Parvathi. She is Swayambhu here with 7 feet height
in a standing posture with a divine grace with one hand resting on the lower
hip as if protecting the woman and the other with the Abhaya Mudra Symbolizing
protection.
Sri Mullaivananathar is
the consort of Goddess Garbharakshambigai.
Garbharakshambigai means the
mother who protects the womb.
This is the first temple
to be worshipped in Pancha Aaranya Sequence. The other temples are Alangudi,
Avalivanallur, and Thirukollampudur.
This temple has 5 tier
Rajagopuram and is built in the Dravidian style of architecture.
