Maa Chamunda Temple – Dewas
Maa Chamunda Temple is
located in Dewas city in Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh State.
The primary deity of this
temple is Maa Chamunda Devi, a manifestation of Goddess Durga. The
image of the goddess is cut into the wall of a cave.
Maa Kali as per Devi
Mahatmaya, killed Chand and mund demons and thus Maa Kali received the name Maa
Chamunda. Devi Tulaja Bhavani temple is situated on a 300-foot (91 m) hilltop,
Tekri. A broad flight of stone steps leads to two shrines for the goddesses, Choti
Mata (Chamunda Mata) and Badi Mata (Tulja Bhavani Mata). Numerous other temples
spread over Tekri can be explored on foot.
However, it is said that
the mother's organs had fallen on other Shaktipeeths in the country. But here
the mother's blood was lying on the tecker. For this reason, the mother of Chamunda's father was here. Chamunda is believed to be in seven mothers. Tulja
Bhavani was founded by the Marathi Raj families. This Kuldevi is considered to
be the king of Marathi kings. Both of these mothers are mutual sisters.
Bhartahar brother of Maharaj Vikramaditya has done penance here. They have been
more than two thousand years.
