Maa Chamunda Temple – Dewas

Maa Chamunda Temple is located in Dewas city in Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh State.

The primary deity of this temple is Maa Chamunda Devi, a manifestation of Goddess Durga. The image of the goddess is cut into the wall of a cave.

Maa Kali as per Devi Mahatmaya, killed Chand and mund demons and thus Maa Kali received the name Maa Chamunda. Devi Tulaja Bhavani temple is situated on a 300-foot (91 m) hilltop, Tekri. A broad flight of stone steps leads to two shrines for the goddesses, Choti Mata (Chamunda Mata) and Badi Mata (Tulja Bhavani Mata). Numerous other temples spread over Tekri can be explored on foot.

However, it is said that the mother's organs had fallen on other Shaktipeeths in the country. But here the mother's blood was lying on the tecker. For this reason, the mother of Chamunda's father was here. Chamunda is believed to be in seven mothers. Tulja Bhavani was founded by the Marathi Raj families. This Kuldevi is considered to be the king of Marathi kings. Both of these mothers are mutual sisters. Bhartahar brother of Maharaj Vikramaditya has done penance here.
