Sree Devi Bhagavati Temple – Ratnagiri
Sree Devi Bhagavati Temple is located inside the Ratnadurg
fort in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra State.
Sree Devi Bhagavati is an incarnation of Goddess Durga.
This temple is renowned for its enticing architecture, which is a
reflection of Hindu architectural design.
Sri Devi Bhagwati Mandir, a section of the enormous
Ratnadurga fort, is one of India's oldest temples. Unique sculptures of gods
like "Veer Vignesh" and "Ashtadash Bhuj" can be found
inside the temple.
This temple was built
during the Bahamani period. In 1670 Shivaji Maharaj won the fort from the hands
of Adil Shah of Bijapur. King Shivaji Maharaj had built protecting towers on
two commanding points, one at the south and the other near the old court house.
The most auspicious
occasion at this temple is the Navarathri Festival, which is celebrated with
great vigour and enthusiasm.
