Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple – Marehalli
Sri Lakshmi Narasimha
Swamy Temple is located in Marehalli Village of Tumkur district in Karnataka
State.
The temple features a
massive mahadvara in the style of the Vijayanagaras. It
comprises a garbhagriha preceded by an antarala and navaranga.
At the main temple
entrance are a Ganesh temple, Pathalankana temple, and Anjaneyaswamy temple
on the left. Encircled by 108 pillars and ankanas, the deities Bhoodevi and Neeladevi are also venerated here. The sanctum sanctorum can be reached by
the Navaranga. Regarding the Shukanasini Mantapa Temple. where Goddess Lakshmi
is resting on the left lap of the seated lord.
It was believed to have been built in the 12th century AD under the Hoysala dynasty and has since
undergone several repairs and restorations.
The temple is also known
for its annual festival, held in honor of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha. The
festival, known as the Brahmotsava, is a grand celebration that attracts
thousands of devotees from all over Karnataka and neighboring states.
