Sri Paiditalli Ammavari Temple - Vijayanagaram




Sri Paidi Thalli Ammavari Temple is located in Vizianagaram District. This temple is one of the major religious places of Andhra Pradesh.

This Temple has a history of the 18th Century.

This temple has a 5 tier Rajagopuram, Dwaja Stambham is placed inside the Gopuram. 

The temple's internal walls and mandapa are designed with Hindu gods and goddesses idols. The temple flooring is made of hard rock stone.

According to the legends the Goddess Paidimamba belonged to the Ganapathi Dynasty and that she was the sister of King Vijayaramaraju. During 1756 the King of Vijayanagaram had a constant rivalry with the King of Bobbili. In the Bobbili battle on 23rd January 1757 many Bobbili soldiers were killed and the Bobbili fort was almost destroyed. The wife of King Vijayaramaraju and his sister, who was suffering from “Masuchi” (Disease), tried to convince him to avoid war. On Vijayadasami the King Vijayaramaraju killed by Tandra Paparayudu. After listening she fainted and fell ill. She passed away and the next Tuesday found an idol of her in the western part of Lake.

Sirimanu or Srimanthotsavam is the main festival celebrated in September or October every year. Around 2-3 lakh pilgrims will gather from all surrounding towns and villages.
