Rules to be followed during Pitrupaksha || Pitru Paksha – Rules
Pitru paksha is an 16 days important period for hindus. It is observed to pay homage to deceased ancestors.
Rules to be followed
- The person must wear a dhoti and remain bare-chested while performing the rituals.
- It is advisable to seek proper guidance from priest for performing the rituals.
- The person who performs Shradha must maintain strict Celibacy
- Non-veg food, tobacco and alcohol must be avoided
- No auspicious functions must be carried out
- No new vehicle/house must be purchased during this period.
- No Haircuts/Shaving must be done
- Ancestors may visit in any form. So feed cows, dogs and other living beings
- Offer food to needy
- Shradh must not be performed during evening or night.
- Avoid arguments or fights. Don’t tell a lie.
- Don’t hurt others by action or words.
