Rules to be followed during Pitrupaksha || Pitru Paksha – Rules


Pitru paksha is an 16 days important period for hindus. It is observed to pay homage to deceased ancestors.

Rules to be followed
  • The person must wear a dhoti and remain bare-chested while performing the rituals.
  • It is advisable to seek proper guidance from priest for performing the rituals.
  • The person who performs Shradha must maintain strict Celibacy
  • Non-veg food, tobacco and alcohol must be avoided
  • No auspicious functions must be carried out
  • No new vehicle/house must be purchased during this period.
  • No Haircuts/Shaving must be done
  • Ancestors may visit in any form. So feed cows, dogs and other living beings
  • Offer food to needy
  • Shradh must not be performed during evening or night.
  • Avoid arguments or fights. Don’t tell a lie.
  • Don’t hurt others by action or words.
