Sri Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple - Narasimha Konda, Nellore

Sri Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is located on the top of Narasimhakonda Hills in the Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh.

Narasimha Swamy is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lakshmi Devi or Chenchu Lakshmi is the consort of Narasimha Swamy

Here Swamy is Swayambu installed by Sage Kasyapa. Lord can be seen with four hands, two hands symbolizing protection, and blessing, and the other two hands holding conch and chakra.

This temple has 6 tier Rajagopuram with Seven kinases. This temple was built during the 9th century.

A tree near Adi Lakshmi temple is believed to grant the boon of begetting children to childless couples. Women devotees tear a corner of their saree and put their offerings in a piece of cloth and tie it as a swing to the tree.

It is mentioned in the BRAHMA PURANAM, that Kasyapa Rishi along with other sages (Saptha Rishis) installed seven Yagna Gundam on top of Narasimha Konda and performed the Yagna. Sri Narasimha Swamy emerged out of Yagna Gundam in the form of light and blessed the Rishis. It is said that Sage Kasyapa installed Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy on an auspicious day, that is before Vaisaka Suddha Pournami and on the day when the Swathi Naksthram or star was ascendant. The seven Yanga Gundam which were used to perform Yagna were now turned into Seven tanks (Koneru) and the protector for the Yagna Sri Prasanna Lakshmi Sametha Sri Govindaraja Swamy is still there at the tanks.

Brahmotsavams are celebrated every year in the month of May
