Umananda Temple Timings - Guwahati
Umananda Temple is
located at Umananda Island in Guwahati in the state of Assam.
Umananda is an
incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Uma means another
name for Lord Shiva’s wife and ‘Ananda’ means happiness.
The only way to
reach this temple is to board ferries and motor launches available at the
Umananda ghat.
There is a small
climb of 100 steps to reach the temple.
Idols of Lord
Surya, Ganesh, Devi and ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu are found in the temple
premises.
Brick temple was
built in 1694 A.D
It is believed
that worship here on the Amavasya day when it falls on Monday brings the highest
bliss. Shiva Chaturdasi is the most important festival celebrated here.

Traditional dress
is allowed for darshan.
