Sree Rajarajeswari Amma Temple - Polali

 

Sri Rajarajeswari Amma Temple is located in Polali in Dakshina Kannada district in the state of Karnataka.

Sree Rajarajeswari devi is the main deity

This temple is located on the banks of the river Phalguni.

Here goddess is an incarnation of goddess Parvathi.

Here the deity is 9 feet height and in sitting posture bearing the Varabhaya mudra sign of blessing.

The eyes of goddess seem to be looking at us in any direction.

This temple was built in ancient south Indian temple style of archictecture.

The other deities in the temple are Subramanya, Bhadrakali, Maha Ganapathi and Saraswathi.

This temple was built in 8th century.

The chendu festival is celebrated in march which lasts for a month and attended by people from all over the world.

Other important days are Simha Sankramana, Ugadi, Gokulashtami, 4th day of Bhadrapada Shukla, Kadiru Habba, Navaratri, Deepavali, Kartika Bahula Padya, Laksha Deepotsava, Subramanya Panchami, Dhanurmasa, Maha Shivaratri and Annual festival on Meena Sankranti day.
