Sri Bhagavathy Temple Timings – Chottanikkara
Sri Bhagavathy Temple is located in Chottanikkara near
Kochi city in the state of Kerala.
Rajarajeswari Devi is the main deity of this temple
who is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Here Goddess is self manifested measures
4 to 5 feet in height.
The idol has four arms which are upper right holds the
disc, the upper left bears the conch, the lower right hand is held in a boon
conferring pose and the lower left indicates the abhaya pose.
Here Devi is worshipped in three forms as Saraswathi
in morning, Lakshmi at noon, Durga in the evening.
This temple was built in Kerala style of architecture.
Here Koneru is named as Rakthakulam.
This temple was built 1500 years ago.
People suffering from mental illnesses visit this
temple as devi is said to cure the diseases.
Guruthi Pooja is a ritual done at late evening to
invoke Mahakali. Earlier it was done only on Fridays, But now it is performed
every day.
The annual Chottanikkara Makam Thozhal is the major festival
celebrated here.
