Mathura is a sacred city in Uttar Pradesh state. It is known as the birthplace of Lord Krishna. It is an important place for Hindus.

Krishna Janma Bhoomi Temple


This is one of the most famous temples of Mathura. It is said that the temple stands in the same place where Lord Krishna was born. “Grabha Griha”, the prison cell which is located inside the temple premises is the place where Kanha was born.


Dwarkadheesh  Temple

 

This temple was constructed in 1814 and is one of the most visited temples in the city of Mathura. The temple has beautiful architecture and there are several details in the carvings and paintings.

 

Kusum Sarovar Temple

 

It is not a temple but a pond that is almost 450 feet long and 60 feet deep. This is located very close to the Radha Kunj. It is believed that Lord Krishna and his consort Radha used to meet at this pond. The place offers scenic views. There’s an aarti which is performed every evening here in the reservoir.

 

Govind Dev Mathura Temple

 

The architecture of the temple is extremely beautiful, a reason why it is extremely famous. However, the temple has now been vacated and the idols of Govind Deva are worshipped in the New Govind Dev Temple.


Gita Mandir Mathura Temple

 

This temple is built by the Birla group. The sacred book of Hindus, Bhagavad Gita has been inscribed on the walls of the temple. There’s also an image of Lord Krishna present on the main premises of the temple.
