Chitrakoot Shakti Peeth – Uttar Pradesh

 

Chitrakoot Shakti Peeth is located in Chitrakoot of Uttar Pradesh State.

The temple is situated just adjacent to the banks of the Mandakini river.

Goddess Shivani the main deity of this temple, is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati.

Here Lord Shiva is worshipped as Chanda Bhairav

Sati devi’s right breast had fallen here and it is one of the 51 shakti peethas.

It is a very sacred place, Lord Rama, Sita Devi, and Lakshmana is said to have spent eleven and a half years in these forests.

This place is mentioned in Ramayana.

Several Sages have meditated here.
