Sri Gangai Varaha Nadeeswarar Temple – Thirukanji
Sri Gangai Varaha Nadeeswarar Temple is located at Thirukanji Village near Villianur town of Tamilnadu State.
Gangai Varaha Nadeeswarar is an incarnation of
Lord Shiva. Goddess Meenakshi and Kamakshi are the consorts of Lord Shiva.
There is also another temple on the northern bank
of the river by the name of Kasi Vishwanath.
This temple was built in the Dravidian style of
architecture.
Sage Agasthiyar visited this temple and worshiped
the lord here hence visiting this temple is equal to visiting the Kasi temple.
The ashes of ad dead person being carried in a pot
to Kasi by his son are believed to have been turned into flowers by the lord
here at Nadeeswarar Thirukanchi, thus making this place holier than kasi.
Raahu and Kethu worshiped Lord Shiva here.
Lord Vishnu in the form of Varaha Perumal is believed
to have blessed the river Sankarabharani as Uttaravahani here at Tirukanchi.
