Sree Nohleshwar Shiv Temple – Nohta

 


Sree Nohleshwar Shiv Temple is located at Nohta Village in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh State.


Lord Nohleshwar is an incarnation of Lord Shiva


This temple was built in the architecture of Kalchury style in the 10th Century. It is built on a high platform. Its parts are – ‘Panch rath’, ‘Garbhgrih’, ‘Amtral’, ‘Mandap’, and ‘Mukh Mandap’. The Nohta Shiva Temple is completely made of stone.

 

Beautiful carvings have been done on the walls of the temple. This temple looks similar to the Khajuraho temple.

 

More idols have been kept in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. These pillars also have beautiful carvings and the ceiling of the temple has also been carved. The ceiling of the temple has beautiful carvings of flowers and the walls of the temple have carvings of deities.

 

 The sanctum sanctorum of the temple has also been carved in its entrance.
