Prabhala Teertham

 Prabhala Teertham is the main attraction of Kona Seema along with bonfires, rangoli, kite flying, Haridas, etc., during Makara Sankranti on Kanuma day. This festival is famous in all of Lord Shiva’s festivals. This is celebrated in 84 places in Kona Seema. It is celebrated mainly in Kothapeta, Ravulapalem, Uppalaguptam, Avidi, Katrenikona, Tondavaram, and Ambajipet mandals. Of those, the one celebrated in Jaggannathota is very famous and old. It has 400 years of history.

Prabha is structured like arches made with bamboo sticks and new clothes. Every year the height of the Prabha is a competition and prestigious issue among villages. They put their village deities(Lord Shiva) in them. Then they decorate Prabha with flowers and colorful papers.

400 years back, when Kona Seema faced difficulty, Rudras from every village met and rescued this place. From then onwards, it is a custom that every year, people will arrange a meeting of rudras on this day.

The prominence of Ekadasa rudras
This festival is held in Jagannatha, mosalapalli village, ambajipet Mandal. In this festival Ekadasa Rudras(11 rudras) from 11 villages namely Gangalakurru, G. Agraharam, Mukkamala, Vakkalanka, Nedunuru, Pulletikurru, Irusumanda, Pedapudi, Palagummi, Vyaghreswaram, mosalapalli. Every year, Lord Shiva *(bhogeswara Swamy) of Mosalapalli will be the host and he will come first to Jaggannathota. Lord Shiva of Vyaghreswaram will preside over the meeting. These prabhas will come through the fields. Farmers believe it is good for them that god comes through their fields. One of the most electrifying parts of the festival is the prabhas of Gangalakurru and G. Agraharam will get down into the river of Kausika which passes near Jaggannathota. Thousands of people breathlessly watch this.
