Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple 2024 Dates
- The Ambubachi mela is held at Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati in the state of Assam.
- It is celebrated in the mid-June of every year
- It is the celebration of the yearly menstruation of Goddess Kamakhya.
- It is believed that Devi Kamakhya goes through her annual cycle of menstruation during this time.
- The temple remains closed for three days during the mela, during these some devotees don’t cook, do not perform puja, and will not read holy books.
- After three days Devi Kamakhya is bathed and rituals are performed to retrieve her purity.
- On the fourth day devotees are allowed to the temple for darshan
