Chaitra Durga Ashtami
Chaitra Ashtami is observed on on the Shukla Paksha Ashtami or the eighth day during the waxing phase of moon in Chaitra Month (March – April). It is one of the important festival for hindus. In bengal it is celebrated as Basanti Puja. Goddess Annapurna is worshiped on this day.It is also known as Ashokasthami in orissa. Special Pujas will take place in Lingaraj swamy temple. Many Devotees observe fast on this day and visit temples and offer special prayers to Goddess. 2017 Date : 4th April.
