Rules to be followed during Pitrupaksha || Pitru Paksha – Rules

Pitru paksha is an 16 days important period for hindus. It is observed to pay homage to deceased ancestors. Rules to be followed The person must wear a dhoti and remain bare-chested while performing the rituals. It is advisable to seek proper guidance from priest for performing the rituals. The person who performs Shradha must maintain strict Celibacy Non-veg food, tobacco and alcohol must be avoided No auspicious functions must be carried out No new vehicle/house must be purchased during this period. No Haircuts/Shaving must be done Ancestors may visit in any form. So feed cows, dogs and other living beings Offer food to needy Shradh must not be performed during evening or night. Avoid arguments or fights. Don’t tell a lie. Don’t hurt others by action or words.

Covid 19 Alert : Latest rules for Ananta Padmanabhaswamy darshan.

The temple in Kerala's capital city Thiruvananthapuram reopened today after remaining closed for the public since the last week of March . Latest Guidelines : The temple shall remain open from 8 AM - 11 AM in the morning and from 5 PM till the time of Deepa Aaradhana in the evening. Not more than 665 people will be allowed to enter the temple premises during the day, and only as many as 35 people will be allowed inside at a time Those who wish have darshan must get their registartions done online. Devotees above the age of 65,children under 10, pregnant women are not allowed for darshan. Apart from these rules, devotees will be expected to adhere to the 6-feet social distancing rule, wear masks, maintain hand hygiene etc.

2020 : Pavitrotsavams at Tiruchanur Padmavathi Ammavari Temple

The Pavitrotsavam festival will be conducted at the Sri Padmavati temple in Tiruchanoor from August 31 to September 2, with Ankurarpanam on August 30. The Three-day Agama ritual including  will be performed once in a year to ward off any lapses committed either by staff or by devotees during festivals and utsavas in the temple. As part of the event Pavitra Pratista will be done on August 31 and Pavitra Samarpana on September 1 and Purnahuti on September 2. In View of Covid-19 restrictions the Pavitrotsavam festival will be performed in Ekantham at Sri Padmavati temple. 

Ten Days Of Onam

The festival of Onam continues for a period of ten days in Kerala.Which start from the Attam nakshatram of Chingam (the first Malayalam month) last until Thiruvonam, the tenth day of Onam. In kerala Avittam and Chatayam (the days following Thiruvonam) are also considered important.  First Day - Attam  Attam marks the beginning of Onam festival. The day is considered holy and auspicious by the Malayalees. On the day, people get up early in the morning, take bath and offer players by visiting the nearby temple. After having breakfast, they start their celebrations for the day.This is done to welcome the holy spirit of legendary King Mahabali that is believed to visit Kerala during Onam. A grand procession called Athachamyam is also carried on the day of Atham to mark the beginning of the grand carnival of Onam. From this day onwards, Pookkalam is laid for the following nine days of Onam. Second Day - Chithira The second day is known as Chithira. On this day, there are no special rituals

2020 : Tirupati Govinda Raja Swamy Temple Pavitrotsavams

The Annual Three-days Pavitrotsavams in Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple in Tirupati will be held from August 28 to 30 with Ankurarpanam on August 27.  On first day of Pavitrotsavam on August 28, Pavitra Pratista will be performed, on the second day, Pavitra Malas will be decked to Mulavirat, utsava deities, Vimanam, Dhwajasthambham, Sri Matham Anjaneya located in four mada streets while on August 30 Pavitra Purnahuti will be performed. While on these three days, there will be snapana tirumanjanam to the utsava deities. In view of Covid restrictions, this festival will be performed in Ekantham.

2020 : PAVITROTSAVAMS AT NARAYANAVANAM TTD TEMPLES

TTD will be organising annual Pavitrotsavam festival on August 25 and 26 at Sri Maragadavalli Sameta Agasthewara temple within Sri Venkateshwara temple complex at Narayanavanam with Ankurarpanam on August 24. As part of the festival, Yagasala Puja, Purnahuti will be performed in the morning of August 25 and Pavitrotsavam rituals in the evening. On August 26 Purnahuti and Pavitramala Samarpana will be conducted. Legends say that the temple was built by ancestors of Akasa Raja, father of Goddess Padmavati and the deity of Agastheeswara is a self-manifested one.
