Swami Samarth Maharaj  (also known as Akkalkot Swami Maharaj) of Akkalkot  was a Indian Guru of the Dattatreya tradition   , widely respected in indian states of Maharashtra as well as in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Raksha Panchami

Raksha Panchami, also known as Rekha Panchami, is observed on the fifth day in second half during Shravan month. It is believed that who missed to tie Rakhi or getting tied the Rakhi on Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi Pournima, will tie and get tied Rakhi on Raksha Panchami. On Raksha Panchami, Lord Ganesha is also worshipped. During Rekha Panchami, Lord Bhairava, one of the forms of Lord Shiva is worshipped.Some people draw the picture of Nandi the vehicle of Lord Shiva on the back door.   A prayer (invocation) to Lord Shiva is written on palm leaf and is hung on the top of the door. Along with the palm leaf, kusha grass and a small packet of rice also hung on the door. At night there is a ritual of making small offerings to wild animals and snakes. 2016 Date : 22nd August.

Here some of the guide lines issued by   Govt of AP   to follow at Godavari Maha Pushkaralu : DO’s 1.      Pilgrims are requested to use the bathing areas/ Ghats that are authorized by the Pushkaram administration for their safety and security. 2.      Pilgrims are requested to use the bathing places/Ghats nearest to their place of stay in pushkaram area or the city. 3.      If any unidentified or suspicious object is located, the pushkaram administration or the police control room should be informed about it. 4.      Pilgrims are requested to follow the traffic rules and regulations in the city and the pushkaram area. 5.      The directions and advice given through the Central Public Address System may be followed to avoid any inconvenience. 6.      Garbage should be thrown only in the dustbins. 7.      Pilgrims and travelers are requested to be appropriately attired considering the religious and cultural sensibilities of the event. Pilgrims perform a variety of Religious Activities and Rituals during their Godavari Maha Pushkaram 2015 visit. Religious Activites : 1.      A holy dip in the river waters 2.      Prayers and offerings to the departed souls 3.      Performing rituals to the river goddess 4.      Performing ten Danams (Dasa Danam) in memory of the elders. 5.      Charity to the poor through Annadanam etc. 6.      Visiting temples and offering prayers 7.      Attend spiritual and devotional activities. TTD Online Booking made more Pilgrim Friendly

With an aim to provide hassle free and comfortable darshan to more number of pilgrims, TTD has brought some amendments in the existing on-line booking system of special entry darshan. “Now the pilgrims can book the tickets on line till midnight. The on-line quota for Rs.300 is extended to 26thousands and Rs.50 to 4000. The darshan for both these categories is provided from 9am to 9pm every day in different slots”, he maintained.
