Kajari Teej

It is observed on the ‘tritiya’ (3rd day) of the Krishna Paksha (the dark fortnight of moon) in the month of ‘Bhadrapada’ as per the North Indian calendar while in the South Indian calendar it falls in the month of ‘Shravana’. It usually comes three days after the celebrations of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and five days prior to ‘Krishna Janmashtami’. It is very auspicious day for married women It is primarily the celebration and funfair time for unmarried girls and women. In the northern states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the festivities the festivities soar to great heights. Chaturbhuj Temple – Orchha

  Chaturbhuj Temple is situated at Orchha in Madhya Pradesh State. Chaturbhuj is a combination of Chatur meaning four and bhuj meaning arms. This temple was originally built for Lord Rama. At present an image of Radha Krishna is worshipped in the temple. This temple is noted for having one of the tallest Vimana among hindu temples The Chaturbhuj temple has tall spires in the shape of pine cones built atop a high platform of 4.5 metres (15 ft) height. The interior has many halls and the main hall or mandapa of the temple is built in the shape of a cross or cruciform and is stated to be a mix of Maru-Gurjara architecture, and it is at right angles to the vestibule, of identical layout on either side. The temple's exterior is richly ornamented with lotus symbols. The building displays a blend of religious and secular styles taken from temple and fort architecture. The temple faces east and is located on an axis with the nearby Ram Mandir, which is inside Orccha Fort complex.

Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple - Karveti Nagaram

Sri Venugopala Swamy temple is situated in Karveti Nagaram in the Chittoor district in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Lord Krishna holds a flute at the reading position and his favorite pot of butter is kept at his feet. Bhadrapada Masam 2023 Dates

Bhadrapada Month is the Sixth month in Hindu Traditional Calendar. Bhadrapada month is not good for Marriages, Gruhapavesams, is considered as shunya masam. This is also the Second month of the Rainy Season, many rituals and festivals are celebrated to overcome the ill effects of the rainy season. Bhadrapada month in North India begins on  August 31 and ends on  September 29.  Festivals : Krishna Janmashtami, Aja Ekadashi, Hartalika Teej, Ganesh Chaturthi, Rishi Panchami, Radha Ashtami, and Parsva Ekadashi are the major festivals during this month. Bhadrapada Masam in South India starts on September 16 and ends on October 14. Gokulashtami Celebrations in Tiruchanur Temple

  As part of Gokulastami on September 7, Abhishekam will be performed to Sri Krishna Swamy Mulavirat in Tiruchanoor.   In the evening snapanam will be observed to utsava deity in Sri Krishn Mukha Mandapam followed by Pedda Sesha Vahana seva in the night. Later Gokulastami Asthanam will be observed.   On September 8, on the day of Utlotsavam, Tirumanjanam and Unjal Seva will be observed.

  Sri Rukmini Devi Temple is located at Dwaraka in the state of Gujarat. Goddess Rukmini is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. Lord Krishna is the consort of Goddess Rukmini. Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple is located at Thondamanadu Village near Sri Kalahasthi in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Varalakshmi Vratam

Varalakshmi Pooja is celebrated before the full moon day (Purnima) in the traditional month of Sravan (Sravanam/Aadi/Sawan). Varalakshmi Vratham is one of the popular pious fasting days for South Indian and Maharashtrian people. Shravana Putrada Ekadashi

Putrada Ekadashi, also known as Pavitropana Ekadashi and Pavitra Ekadashi, falls on the 11th lunar day ( Ekadashi ) of the fortnight of the waxing moon in the  Hindu month  of  Shravana  (July-August).  All the normal rules associated with Ekadasi fasting are observed during Putrada. The popular belief is that by observing Putrada Ekadasi Vrat one will be able to get a son. As per  Bhavishya Purana, this vrat is mentioned by Lord Sri Krishna to Yudhishtira. Damodar Dwadashi, or Damodara Dwadasi, is observed on the 12th day of the waxing phase of the moon (Shukla Paksha) of Shravan month. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Onam is a festival celebrated by the people of Kerala. It is the rice harvest festival in Kerala It is the most important and one of the biggest festivals celebrated for 10 days. It falls during the month of Chingam (August–September) during Thiruvonam Nakshatram. The first day, Atham, and the tenth day, Thiruvonam the most important of all. The characteristic floral designs known as ‘pookkalam’ are symbolic of this festival. People gift and wear new clothes known as 'Onakkodi'. Grand feasts are prepared on this occasion. This is known as 'onam sadya’.  A characteristic sweet dish called ‘payasam’ is a must during Onam. It is made of rice, milk, sugar, and coconut. Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated every year on 'Shravan Purnima' (Full Moon Day of the Hindu month of Shravan), which generally falls in August.  It is also called Rakhi Purnima in most of India. On the auspicious day of Rakhi, sisters wake up in the morning, take bath, offer prayers to god and visit their brothers to perform the rituals of Rakhi. The ritual of Raksha Bandhan essentially includes the tying of sacred thread by the sisters, on their brothers' wrists. Before tying Rakhi, the sisters would perform an aarti, apply tilak (by mixing rice grains and roli) on their brother's forehead, and then offer them sweet.  History & Legends : The Yamuna was the sister of Lord Yama, the God of death. Lord Hayagriva is one of the incarnations of Lord Maha Vishnu. Hayagriva is also often termed  Hayasira. Haya means 'Horse' and Sira means headed. Hence, Hayasira means a person with a horse-like head. Lord Hayagriva was born on the Sravana Purnima day. According to Hindu texts, Vedas were stolen by Rakshasas and Lord Hayagriva fought with them and brought them back. Ancient texts say that Hayagriva is the first person to offer Akasharabasyam to Goddess Saraswati. The festival is also prominently observed by the student community.   Gayatri Japam is observed just after Shravana Purnima. This day is also known as Gayatri Jaap Sankalpam and is considered to be auspicious in South India. Brahmins chant the Vedas along with Gayatri Mantra with dedication. In South India this forms a   part of the rituals of Avani Attam, which is the commencement of the study of Vedas. During this day Brahmins wear a Sacred thread called Janeyu. In Telugu states Gayatri Japam is called as Gayatri Pratipada As per legends Gayatri Devi is known to be Supreme Goddess It is believed that a person who performs Gayatri Japam will be freed from all his sins and bestowed with all spiritual and worldly Happiness. Narali Purnima

Narali Poornima marks the end of the monsoon season in Maharashtra. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Shravan. People offer coconuts to the sea. The festival also marks the beginning of the new fishing season. So, fishermen appease the sea god before sailing out over the mighty sea. They worship for safe fishing. Singing and dancing are the main attractions of the festival. Sweet coconut rice is prepared for the day. Naral means coconut and coconut is offered to the sea, so it is called the narali Poornima. 2023 Date:  August 31.

Shravan Purnima

The Full Moon day in the month of Shravan is called Shravana Purnima Every month Purnima tithi holds great significance in the Hindu Calendar. On this people celebrate Raksha Bandhan, the tying of the bond of protection or Rakhi on the hands of brothers by sisters. In Tamilnadu it is celebrated as Avani Avittam, on this day people who wear Janeyu, replace it with a new one. It is called Aadi pournami. Satyanarayana puja will be performed at home or workplace. In Gujarat it is celebrated as Pavitropana, where devotees seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
