Yamuna Pushkaralu 2014

Yamuna River Pushkarams will start on 19th June 2014 and concludes on 30th June 2014. Yamuna Pushkaralu begins at the time when Brishpati enters into Karkataka Rashi. Yamuna is a sacred river and the main tributary of the Ganges (Ganga). According to the ancient Indian scriptures Yamuna was the daughter of the Sun God called Surya, sister of Yama (the God of death). bathing in its sacred waters frees one from the torments of death. River Yamuna is deeply connected with the Lord Krishna's birth. After his birth his father Vashudeva crossed the River Yamuna carrying him in the bucket. When Lord Krishna fell into the water, Yamuna once again became sanctified with the dust of his lotus feet. The river worshipped as a Hindu goddess called Yamuna.  Pushkaram is a Sanskrit word meaning "the one who purifies". Pushkaram is the time during which the rivers are worshipped.In india there are many holy days among them Pushmaram is considered to be very sacred as the rivers in India
