Guru Purnima in Shirdi 2023

Guru Pournima (“ Pournima means full-moon”) is the one in which disciples and devotees honour and felicitate their guru and seek his or her special blessing. Although it is of great importance in Shirdi, perhaps because it is the only festival which Baba asked us to celebrate. Hindu Puran says that the programme respecting or worshipping ‘Guru’ on this day started at the time of ‘Vyas’ writer of Mahabharat, Baba asserted the significance of this day indirectly. Various religious activities are arranged. A great number of people flock to Shirdi during this Festival. Skanda Sashti Dates 2023

  Skanda Sasthi is dedicated to Lord Murugan or Subramanya Swamy. It is the sixth day of every lunar fortnight in the Hindu Calendar. The Shasti falling during the waxing phase of the moon is celebrated as the Skanda Sashti. Devotees of Lord Murugan Observe Full or Partial Fast on this day. They also perform Special Pujas to Lord Murugan on this day. Chanting Skanda Sashti kavacham on this day is Auspicious. Devotees organize Bhajan and Kirtan programs on a grand scale.  Married couples with no children offer special prayers to seek Murugan's blessings for a child. Skanda Sashti is celebrated as a six-day festival in the Tamil month of Aippasi. Gauri Parvati Vrat

Gauri Parvati Vrata is observed by unmarried women and young girls. This Vratha is observed in Ashada Masam. It is observed for five days. The vrat starts on  Ekadashi day in the month of Ashada in the waxing phase of the moon and the fast ends on the day of Purnima. A partial fast is observed wherein the girls perform pujas for Goddess Parvati.  Legends : Once there was a Brahmin couple who were devotees of lord shiva. They led happy life but were childless. One day Lord Shiva was pleased with their devotion and made a revelation.  He said, "My Shivlinga is at a certain place in the jungle, lost and revered by none. If you both go there and perform its puja, your wishes will be fulfilled."The Brahmin couple was overjoyed when they heard this. They went to the jungle and found out about the Shivlinga. The waxing phase of the moon (Shukla Paksha) of Ashada month is celebrated as Devshayani Ekadashi or Ashadi Ekadashi. The date of this ritual corresponds to June or July.  In Maharashtra, the famous Pandarpur Yatra concludes on this day. The major celebrations take place in Lord Vithal Temple in Pandarpur. The Chatur Maas vrat begins from this day, as it is believed that Lord Vishnu went into a deep sleep for the next four months beginning from this day. Vasudeva Dwadashi is a vrat dedicated to Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna. It falls on the day after Devshayani Ekadashi. As part of Chaturmas Vrat devotees undergo Strict strict penance for the four months of Ashada, Shravan, Bhadrapada, and Ashvin can gain tremendous benefits and salvation of the soul. Donating rice, fruits, and clothes to Brahmin priests is considered auspicious on this day. Visiting a nearby temple, Chanting Vishnu Sahasranama is considered highly auspicious on this day. 2023 Date: June 30.

Bijethua Mahavir Mandir – Sultanpur

  The Bijethua Mahavir Mandir is situated in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh State. The main deity is lord Hanuman and he is Swayambhu here. One foot of the statue is sunk in the ground, due to this idol looks like little sloping. The priests began digging to straighten the statue after the archaeological department analysed its age. The other end of the statue, however, was not discovered despite more than 100 feet of digging. This temple holds the record of having the most bells of any temple.   Maa Bhattarika Devi Temple is located at Sasanga Village in Baramba tehsil in Cuttack district of Odisha State. It is situated on the banks of the river Mahanadiv. Goddess Bhattarika is an incarnation of Goddess Shakti. Devi Bhattarika seated in Lalitasana holding a lotus in one hand and the other hand in Varadamudra,Another image close to her is in Lalitasana with four hands Pasha, Ankusha, Bow and Arrow which is called Para Bhattarika.   The temple of Bhattaarika is located in the foot of the Ratnagiri hill. Maa Dhamarai Temple – Dhamara

  Maa Dhamarai Temple is located at Dhamara a small coastal village in the Bhadrak district of Odisha State. Goddess Dhamarai is an incarnation of Goddess Shakti. This temple was constructed in the Kalinga Style of architecture. There are several folk tales and legends concerning the deity and the temple. According to one of the historical legends, one merchant namely Dhaneswar who often traded with the Singhalies (Sri Lanka) had brought a deity namely "Pashana Mangala" from Sri Lanka and had established the same at Dhamara on his way back home. The deity later came to be known as Maa Dhamarai.   According to one of the folktales Maa Dhamrai had five sisters and was residing at a place called "Satabhaya". Her five sisters were carnivorous in contrast to the purely vegetarian Maa Dhamrai. This outraged her sisters and pushed her deep into the sea.
