Do’s and Dont’s in Karthika Month
Karthika month is one of the auspicious month in hindu calendar. This month people observe strict rituals. Daily morning bath in rivers, going to temples, lighting deepam, fasting are the major things to be done.
Few practices during this month
- Get up early in the morning (brahma muhurta) and take bath before sunrise (if possible in rivers)
- Regularly Visit Lord Shiva, Vishnu and other temples.
- Read holy scriptures like Shiva Puranam, Kartika Puranam, Vishnu Sahasranamam and other devotional books
- Perform pooja at home by offering naivedyam.
- Light deepam daily in both morning and evening.
- Perform Japas, Samudra Snanam (river bath)
- Observe fast especially on Mondays , Ekadasi , Dwadasi and Pournami days.
- Donation is considered highly auspicious during this month. Donate to poor and people in need.
- Eat Satvik food.
- Avoid Onions, Masala items, Garlic and non-veg food.
