Panchakshari Mantra – Om Namah Shivaya

 


This mantra is  “om namah shivaya”. It is called Panchakshara matra as it has 5 syllables and is preceded by om. This mantra means, ’I bow down in worship to Lord Shiva’. 


Na: Na refers to ‘earth’


Ma: Denotes ‘water’


Si: Si is used to mean ‘fire’


Va: Refers to ‘air’


Ya: Ya indicate ‘ether’


Benefits of Panchakshara mantra


This mantra helps seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
